What should be noted when storing graphite electrodes in steel mills?

31 Jul.,2025

The electrodes and connectors should be stored on a clean cement floor to prevent them from being damaged or sticking to soil; Do not remove the packaging of temporarily unused electrodes to prevent dust and debris from falling onto the joint threads or electrode end faces and internal threads of the electrode holes. The electrodes should be stored neatly in the warehouse, and the two ends of the electrode stack should be padded to prevent slipping. The height of the electrode stack should generally not exceed two meters. The stored electrodes should be protected from rain and moisture to prevent cracking and accelerated oxidation during steelmaking. Do not store electrode connectors near high temperatures to prevent connector plugs from melting and overflowing.
